The Athlete Stop Start Up Story

Start Up Story

The Athlete Stop began due to an essential need the founder felt was lacking in the sports medicine world. In one word, that was communication.  There are so many different aspects in a sports medicine clinic that we felt it would be greatly desired to have everything under one roof; essentially, a one stop shop. We would hear stories of people getting relief from traditional medicine through means such as chiropractic, physical therapy, soft tissue work, and surgery.  The universal feeling was that one technique did not work for everyone. Other issues we heard were that athletes felt when they went to a sports medicine clinic, they were in the mix with more of a geriatric world and their therapy was so general they felt it was not geared to their specific needs.

This is where our vision came to life; tailor the therapy to the individual athlete.

Dr. Chase and his wife Brandi Chase have been devoted to sports medicine and health since early on. They both were athletes growing up and realized a need for improvements within treatment and dietary concerns they witnessed throughout high school and college. Dr. Chase pursued undergraduate studies at Oklahoma on a soccer scholarship and went on to finish in Georgia at the Life Chiropractic College. He then completed his Doctorate’s at the Texas Chiropractic College and continued playing soccer every chance he could. Brandi Chase took an interest in nutrition from a young age and continued pursuing her dream at Texas A&M in Kingsville and received a Masters degree in Nutrition from the Texas Woman’s University. Running has always been her sport of expertise and a passion she continues to chase.

Due to the overwhelming fervor of helping others and pursuing careers in sports medicine and nutrition, the Chase’s opened The Athlete Stop in 2009 and have been treating teams and individuals throughout the Greater Houston and Katy areas ever since!

The Athlete Stop team has taken the next step in our process to help patients stay injury free and receive a more tailored treatment; we do that with dietitian services, sports therapy testing, VO2/ Lactate/ Gait Analysis/ Functional Movement screens, and functional blood work. Our team knows we must address all the stresses of an injury to make sure it heals completely in order to be stronger and less likely to re-injure. So if you are vitamin deficient, all the physical therapy will not help; on the reverse, if you have a major muscle imbalance, taking all the proper vitamins will not correct that.

Our goal is to get the athlete back to the sport they love as quickly as possible, but not only returning, we want them to be stronger than before in order to help prevent further injuries.  We constantly receive pictures and updates from our athletes as they are excelling in their talents, and we love the opportunity to follow alongside these endeavors to see such accomplishments!

Look for updates on our Newsletters and Social Media as well as for ways to join in on events, receives discounts on equipment, or win give a ways!
